The Diocese of Knoxville’s program for the protection of children and
youth is based on training developed by Virtus and offered through the Religious
Education Office. A three-hour seminar for adults, “Protecting God’s
Children,” is required for employees and regular volunteers in parishes
and schools and is recommended for all parents and grandparents.
As of June 10, 2,030 people in the diocese have attended Virtus training sessions.
The following training sessions are available:
- St. Augustine Church, Signal Mountain, 9 a.m. Saturday, June 26
- St. Mary Church, Oak Ridge, 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26
- All Saints Church, Knoxville, 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15
- Catholic Charities of East Tennessee, Knoxville, 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3.
