Diocesan seminarian Tony Dickerson was received into the Rite of Admission to Acolyte on March 20 at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary near Philadelphia. Father Bob Hofstetter, pastor of St. Jude Parish in Chattanooga, will celebrate his 50th anniversary of ordination Friday, April 30. Priests of the diocese are invited to attend and concelebrate Mass at 7 p.m. with Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz. A reception will follow at St. Jude’s Siener Hall.

Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz will preside at Mass at 7 p.m. Friday, April 16, at St. Mary Church in Oak Ridge to celebrate the parish’s three-year anniversary of perpetual eucharistic adoration.

Knights of Columbus Council 5207 in West Knoxville will hold a best-ball scramble golf tournament Saturday, April 17, at Cedar Hills Golf Course in Lenoir City. The event has an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Cost: $70; includes golf cart, lunch, beverages, and prizes. Funds will benefit the council’s charitable projects. Knights of Columbus Council 8152 in Crossville will hold its second annual Craft Fair on the Plateau the weekend of May 1 and 2 at the Knights Activity Park on Highway 70, about 3 miles east of downtown. The fair, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, will feature homemade crafts for sale and an antique-car show. Live entertainment will include country, bluegrass, and gospel performances as well as dulcimer musicians and cloggers. The Knox County Chapter of Tennessee Right to Life will sponsor a pro-life ad in the Knoxville News-Sentinel on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9. The ad will include information about the sanctity of life and will list supporters’ names. Those interested in making a donation and having their names published in the ad should send $10 per person or $15 per family to Tennessee Right to Life, Knox County Chapter, P.O. The Jubilee House Retreat Center in Abingdon, Va., will present Sabbath Time from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 20. Fee: $10; includes lunch. Registration deadline is Monday, April 19. An Administrative Professions Day will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21. Suggested donation: $25. Deadline is Friday, April 16. A Twilight Retreat for Mothers and Daughters will begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, and offers an opportunity for mothers and their high school–aged daughters to reflect, pray, and share. Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga will be the site for the first-ever Beer on the Bridge event, set for 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 17, rain or shine, with proceeds benefiting Catholic Charities of East Tennessee’s Opportunity Home. Patrons may sample from more than 150 varieties of microbrewed beer and popular favorites, and seven local restaurants will have menu items for sale. Earthbound will provide live music. Opportunity Home offers a safe place for non-custodial parents to visit their children. Seekers of Silence will present Icons: Visual Scripture, featuring Charles Chandler, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 17, at John XXIII Catholic Center in Knoxville. Coffee and tea will be served at 9 a.m.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral School Home and School Association will sponsor a reception to celebrate Principal Pamela Bernards’s 23 years of service and dedication from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, at the school pavilion.

The St. Jude Home and School Association will host a spring dance and silent auction Saturday, May 8, at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga to benefit construction of the parish life center.
